Full-time Junior UX Designer

at TUI Group in Luton

As Junior UX Developer within the User Experience team in Ecommerce, you will be delivering front-end code to support the wider User Experience team in delivering best-in-class user experience solutions across our portfolio of websites, and give our customers the inspiration they need to find and easily book their dream holiday. To do this you’ll be working alongside our UX Developer and liaising with a UX Designer, and be responsible for making frequent, small front-end tweaks to optimise different elements of pages across our brand portfolio so they perform best for customers and the business.

This is a junior level role which offers a great opportunity to join the expanding Digital team within the world’s leading integrated tourism business.

What you will be doing
As Junior UX Developer, working within the ever-expanding Ecommerce team in TUI UK & Ireland, you’ll be responsible for delivering clean, effective HTML, Javascript and CSS solutions as part of our ongoing site optimisation process. These changes will be implemented, managed and evaluated through our Adobe A/B testing functionality and our CMS, so you won’t be restricted by lengthy release processes or development cycles – your changes can start delivering insight and benefit almost immediately!

At TUI we’re keen to make sure that we’re constantly refining what we do, so we are following best practice and delivering innovative solutions that keep our customers coming back to us year after year. Your part in this will be quickly delivering frequent, small changes (rather than full pages) from ideas from around our business that the UX Designer will prioritise, based on insight from around the Ecommerce department.

You’ll be working from high-fidelity visuals produced by our Visual Designers to make sure your solutions fit in with our brand and style guidelines, and translating these designs into production-quality, performant front-end code through the tools in place. In many cases there will be multiple variants to deliver, so we can see which option performs best. You’ll be involved in the whole end-to-end process including scoping of tests, setting them up in the testing tool, and ensuring that they are working as expected before they are published.

As you’d expect, technical development skills are a key part of this role, along with a customer-first perspective that means you can contribute fully to solution option design. You’ll also need to be able to get up to speed quickly, to understand the needs of our customers and the objectives of the business.

What we are looking for
• An enthusiastic junior front-end developer. A background in User Experience in a commercial environment would be useful so that you can feed into the process from a creative perspective
• Proven capability in HTML, CSS and Javascript development. Experience with using a CMS, Adobe Target or similar A/B testing tool is desirable
• Self-motivated and results-driven, and able to deliver high quality solutions independently
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, and take responsibility for the quality and timeliness of deliverables
• Hard-working and dedicated
